The Mayfield Community Self-Employed Natural Collective Exercise (McSence) was formed in 1988 as a response by the community of Mayfield to the devastating effect of pit and factory closures in the area.

The board of Directors of McSence comprises 12 members of the local community of Mayfield and Easthouses who are elected each year at the Annual General Meeting. They com from all walks of life including business people, workers, civil servants and retired.
